talk about payback. Internationally-acclaimed stunt director Kecha Khamphakdee, who has worked in films like Ong Bak 2 and Blood Sport 2, will be playing the villain in Sagaptham — the debut movie of Vijayakant’s son Shanmuga Pandian.
Vijayakant was the one who introduced Kecha to Indian films when he brought him on board for his last film Virudhagiri (2010), in which he played the lead and wielded the megaphone. Kecha has handled portions of high-octane action for stars such as Ajith, Suriya and even Kamal Haasan.
Kecha has been hot property in Indian cinema and has worked with a slew of top-line stars and directors for Indian films in the last few years, but has restricted himself to stunt direction and has turned down offers to act. “Lots of directors have asked him to act, especially when he worked in 7 Aum Arivu and Vishwaroopam, but he kept turning it down. But when Vijayakant asked him if he would do it for his son, he immediately accepted,” said a source close to the Sagaaptham unit.
Playing a villain with a sizeable role in the film, Kecha’s portion was shot when the unit spent a month in Thailand recently. One of the hallmarks of the scenes between Kecha and Shanmuga Pandian is a fight sequence that took a few days to can perfectly.
