CHENNAI: Debutant music director Santhosh Kumar Dayanidhi, who has scored the music for Inimey Ippadithaan is not tensed or nervous about how the album would be received. “I am just excited,” he says. Having had the experience of playing the keyboard for films like Kadal and working with A R Rahman, he says that by learning from the ace music director, he has got a hang of the dynamics of composing film music. “Looking at his style of work, I gathered some knowledge on how to go about making music to suit the situation and dialogues and also choose the right voices,” explains Santhosh.
And he feels his efforts have paid off. This project involving Santhanam needed a lot of peppy fresh music that people will enjoy. The six songs in Inimey Ipadithaan have loads of exuberance. In fact, Santhosh adds that there are a couple of gaana songs too — and one of them is from the happening Gaana Bala himself. “He wrote the song and also went on to lend his voice. That’s the opening song in the film. The catchy lyrics go like Paatha oru look-u la, vizhunthen da dokkula. It has gone well with the audience too,” says the happy debutante.
Gaana Vinoth has penned lyrics for another song from the movie, for which singer Mahalingam has lent his voice. The album, according to Santhosh, is also an avenue for new singers. There are two songs from experienced singers. “Karthik, a good friend, has given us one song, which is a duet with newcomer Aishvarrya. We have also roped in singer Harini, who has sung in a film after quite a gap. Hers is a cute melody with gaana bits in between,” he shares. Also recollecting the initial days of composing last year, Santhosh is all praise for Santhanam who went on to okay his music even without listening to a demo. “I owe it to him for having that confidence in me, and now, the music is doing well. When the film releases on June 12, with complementing visuals, I am sure my music will reach more people,” signs off Santhosh
