There’s good news for both actor Kamal Haasan and Ramesh Aravind, who directed the Ulaganayagan in Uttama Villain. The film has won five awards in the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival (LAIFFA) and one in the Russian International Film Festival.

Says a source close to the unit of the film, “Uttama Villain won in five categories. While Kamal Haasan won the Best Actor Award, Ghibran won two awards -- one for Best Original Music and the other for Best Song. Kunal Rajan won the award for Best Sound Design. Uttama Villain also won the Best Feature Film award.” Music Director Ghibran, who has now become a favourite of Kamal Haasan and has been working with him on back-to-back projects, had an added reason to smile as his score for the film fetched him an award at the Russian International Film Festival as well.
