Thiruttu VCD: What's in a Name?

Manigandan KR

For some time now, the name of the film Thiruttu VCD has been raising eyebrows. In fact, many even were misled into believing the film to be a crime thriller. However, actor Prabha, who is also the producer of the film, dismisses all these perceptions as rumours.  “This is an out-and-out comedy film,” he says with a laugh.  But why the title Thiruttu VCD?  The actor explains, ”The film is about three people who are trying to smuggle an idol.

VCD is an acronym for Vinoth, Chinna and Delli, the three people who undertake a trip from Chennai to Tuticorin in order to smuggle an idol.”  Interestingly, this movie has been directed by actor Sukumar. Sakshi Agarwal plays the female lead in this film, which is to hit screens on September 24.
