Venkat Prabhu rubbishes rumours of making Saroja 2

Express News Service

A few dailies had reported that SJ Suryah, who’s awaiting the release of Nenjam Marapathillai, will be playing the lead in a sequel to the 2008 hit film Saroja, which had Shiva, singer-actor SPB Charan, Vaibhav and Premgi in the lead. Now, filmmaker Venkat Prabhu has denied the news. In an official statement to the press, he said those were baseless rumours. “I am on the verge of completing the sequel to Chennai 28. As of now, my focus is on recreating the magic of 2007, in 2016. Kindly note the numerological factor of the total nine is a coincidence,” said Venkat with his typical humour. The sequel to Chennai 28 is said to be the continuation of the earlier film’s storyline. The teaser, which was released sometime ago, crossed a million views. The star cast includes Vijayalakshmi, Jai, Premgi, Nithin Sathya, Vijay Vasanth, Abhinay Vaddi, Shanthini Subbu Panchu, Vaibhav Reddy and Mahat Raghavendra along with newcomers Anjana, Krithika, and Maheshwari Sana. The film will be produced by Prabhu’s Black Ticket Company, and music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
