Manigandan KR

Actor Maya’s first film Darling 2 might not have hit screens yet but her acting abilities have had industry critics sit-up and take notice. No wonder then, the lady has landed yet another plum role. On Wednesday, she began work on her next film titled Unnodu Ka, opposite Aari.

The story of the film, which is being directed by debutant RK, has been penned by well-known film exhibitor and producer Abirami Ramanathan. “After my first film Darling 2, I wanted to choose a fun script. That was when I got this story and so I  chose to do this film. The film is about two childhood friends who are always at loggerheads with each other. However, at one point, they realise that they are in love,” says the actor, who, not many know is also a qualified dentist.

“I studied at SRM Dental college and immediately after college, got into films. I have always been into extracurricular activities and therefore after my education in medicine, I decided to take a break by doing films,” says Maya.

So, how did she get into films? “I would attend cultural events and my best friend suggested that I give films a shot. I auditioned for the role in Darling 2 and got it,” she says. “I play a Muslim girl in the  film. It’s a horror-comedy and has an element of revenge in it. The film is  most likely to hit screens next month.”
