After donning the role of music composer, singer, AR Reihana, sister of the double Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman, turns producer with a film titled Yen Da Thalaila Yenna Theikkala. The film will be directed by television actor-anchor Vignesh Karthick. “I’ve done short films, but always wanted to direct. Reihana ma’am happened to watch one of my earlier short films and gave me this opportunity. I am so grateful to her,” said Vignesh.
Ask why he didn’t act in the film and he says, “I felt it was appropriate to direct and not act. I’ve already been doing shows and serials on television. RJ-actor Azhar is the male lead. He has already acted in Vikraman sir’s Ninaithathu Yaaro (2014) as one of the four heroes. He is also awaiting the release of his upcoming flick Saaral. Sanchita Shetty plays the heroine. I’ve known Azhar for almost ten years; we’re good friends. Also, I thought he would suit the lead character better.”
Shot in and around Chennai and Puducherry, Yen Da Thalaila Yenna Theikkala, which has music by Reihana, is in the post-production stage. “Azhar plays a jobless engineering graduate and Sanchita plays an IT woman. The story revolves around Azhar — how he gets trapped by a fantasy element because he didn’t oil his hair forms the story. Though it may sound funny and silly, we have shown the film in a quirky way. I hope the audience will enjoy it,” Vignesh adds.
