Tubelight is based on love, imperfections

Newbie Indra will make his acting and directing debut with a film titled Tubelight. An engineer by profession, he tells us why he chose to enter the film industry. “I always dreamt of becoming a filmmaker. So, after my graduation, I focused on becoming an artiste. I drew inspiration from Charlie Chaplin, Michael Jackson and Jackie Chan. Being an ad filmmaker and a corporate theatre trainer helped me understand the process of filmmaking and acting,” he says.”

Having done ad films, short films, jingles and music videos, it took almost a decade for him to realise his dream. “I met my producer, Ravi Narayanan. He saw my work and liked the script, which I prepared ages ago. Eventually we began work on the project,” he says.

Actor-director Pandiarajan plays an interesting role in the movie. “This is my first film, so every day goes into my diary with a lot of joy. The script is non-linear so the filming was tough and adventurous. Pandiarajan sir has done an amazing job, which I’m sure would be treat for the audience. Working with him was a pleasure,” he smiles.

Currently in post-production stage, the romantic-comedy is about a man falling in love with a girl — a crazy doctor — and deals with imperfections and love. Ask why he chose to name his film Tubelight and he says, “The title should blend with the character and story — I can’t think of a better title. I tried the Tamil translation of the same, but it sounded tough to understand.” The film, in which Dhiya plays the leading lady, has Indra himself working on the music.
