Actor Vimal, who has impressed in a number of movies including Kalavani,  Kalakalappu and Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, says he has decided to take  things slow.

The actor, who now thinks long and hard before taking up a project, says,  "For long, I felt I was doing things in a hurry. So, I chose to deliberately  slow down, analyse things and then take up projects that will take me in the  right direction. The first film after making that conscious decision is Mapla  Singam."

Talking about his role in Mapla Singam, he says, "The film is a romantic comedy that has been directed by N Rajasekar. It features a number of stars including Anjali, Suri, Kali and Swaminathan sir. I play Anbu, the nephew of a politically powerful chairman in the film. My uncle considers my character, more of a son than a nephew in the film. Anjali  plays a lawyer and she belongs to the rival camp. Initially, we keep fighting but then, we join hands to resolve an issue and become friends in the film. The film is a laugh riot and has come out exceptionally well."

Vimal's decision to slow down comes as a surprise as several teams are interested in casting him as the lead in their projects.

Explains the actor, "Earlier, I would do four or five films at a time. Now, I have limited myself to doing just two films at a time. I have decided that I will work on one, while the other is under production. Why I have done this is because it will not only help me allocate more time to each project, but also enable me to put in more effort. Now, I have time to listen to good scripts. In fact, I take time to listen to good scripts."

Vimal has always come across as a happy go-lucky person, who harbours  no fear. Does he fear anything at all?

"Earlier, I used to be scared to say 'No'. For instance, if I did not like a  script, I would be scared to say 'no' to doing a film. That was because I  thought that if I said 'no', they would sideline me in the industry. Now, when  I think about it, it makes me wonder why I should agree to do something  which I feel is not right," he signs off with a smile.
