When Na Muthukumar wrote a song in 33 mins

Lyricist Na Muthukumar,  before his untimely death, had penned a song for a film titled Mael Naatu Marumagan, which has Rajkamal and a French actor Andrean in the lead roles, in 33 minutes. Director MSS says, “I wanted a feel-good number for this film and had approached the National award-winning lyricist for the same. He was on his way to the US and told me to make an alternative arrangement. But I was quite particular and convinced him that I needed his lyrics. Eventually, he asked me to get into his car, where he completed this in 33 minutes. The song begins with the words Yaaro Yaar Ivalo... He was an amazing person with unadulterated talent. Those moments that I spent with him are fresh in my memory.”

The filmmaker adds that the film revolves around the life of a tourist guide, whose wish is to marry a foreigner. “Fortunately, the hero finds one such girl and gets married to her. How he misses his own culture when he goes abroad to make quick bucks, forms the rest of the story. Though Andrean did a small role in Rajini Murugan, Mael Naatu... will be her first film as leading lady. We shot the film in and around Rameshwaram and Mahabalipuram,” he says.
