CHENNAI: Allaying rumours, a senior police officer of the Chennai city police on Saturday said actress Oviya was sent out of the Big Boss Tamil show because she was "unwell".

A senior police officer told Express, "A police inspector went to the big boss camp and conducted an enquiry. She is not well and hence she went out of the show. The rest are just rumours."

Friday's episode showed Oviya, the most popular contestant in the reality show, jumping into the swimming pool inside the house and she is being saved by other contestants.

In Big Boss Tamil, contestants have to live in a house provided by Star Vijay TV, which is part of the global conglomerate led by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, and their activities are recorded by dozens of cameras installed in the house.

The daily lives of the contestants are broadcasted as hour-long episodes every day. Recent episodes showed Oviya to be very emotionally upset over her relationship with a few other contestants.

Meanwhile, a police source confirmed to Express that Oviya again visited the studio in Chennai's outskirts on Saturday. It's not clear if she will continue to be a contestant in the show or she is visiting the studio for exit interviews the contestants of the show usual have.
