Veteran Tamil comedy actor Alwa Vasu passes away

Actor Alwa Vasu, who has appeared in over 500 Tamil films, passed away on Thursday around 10.30 pm due to a liver problem.

Veteran Tamil comedy actor Alwa Vasu, who has appeared in over 500 films, passed away on Thursday night around 10.30 pm due to liver ailment. According to reports, the 'Amaidhi Padai' actor was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Madurai for the past six months.

Vasu was discharged from the hospital after the doctors declared that no further treatment can be provided to improve his health condition.   

The actor shot to limelight after his performance in the 1994 blockbuster 'Amaidhi Padai'. He has acted in numerous character and comical roles and is best known for sidekick roles alongside popular Tamil comedian Vadivelu. He has also been a part of national award winning movies Aadukalam and Visaaranai. Vasu is survived by his wife Amudha and daughter Krishna Jayanthika.
