Vivegam becomes Ajith's best ever opening; creates Chennai box-office record

Vivegam, released in over 3000 theatres worldwide and 800 theatres in Tamil Nadu has witnessed the best opening day ever for an Ajith film.

Ajith's 'Vivegam' was released on 24 August 2017 to mass hysteria by fans. The film, released in over 3000 theatres worldwide and 800 theatres in Tamil Nadu has witnessed the best opening day ever for
an Ajith film.

Moreover, 'Vivegam' has gone on to break the record held by Rajinikanth's 'Kabali' for being the highest opening day collection at the Chennai box-office. The film has collected Rs 1.2 crore on the
first day while 'Kabali' had raked in Rs 1.12 crore and Vijay's 'Theri' had taken in Rs 1.05 crore.

On the second day, the film became the fastest to reach Rs 2.5 crore in Chennai with the two-day collection standing at Rs 2.7 crore.

Vivegam review: The weakest of the Siva-Ajith films

Despite mixed reviews, Vivegam has collected approximately Rs 16 crore from Tamil
Nadu on the first day.
