We had already reported that Vijay Sethupathi’s next is a village-based film. The latest we hear is that it has been tentatively titled Karuppan. Producer AM Rathnam says, “We started shooting on January 11. For 20 days, we’ll be shooting in Dindigul and Theni. After a break for 10 days, we are planning to finish it off in 70 days at a stretch.”

Quiz him on what character Vijay Sethupathi plays, he adds, “I can’t share anymore as the suspense would be lost. We were in talks with Lakshmi Menon, but haven’t finalised her. In a week, we’ll be finalising the rest of cast and crew.” Directed by Panneerselvam of Renigunta (2009) fame, Imman is the music director of Karuppan. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Bobby Simha has been roped in to play the
antagonist.

Sharing that his team is his strength, Rathnam says, “Vijay Sethupathi is an actor with the Midas touch. Most of his films have been successful at the box office. He knows his audience and that has helped him win viewers.
Glad that I got a director who has confidence in his work. The story has been written in such a way that suits his ‘mass’ appeal.”
Going by the looks of the actor, we guess he has been asked to grow a handle bar mustache for his character.
