Last week, images from the shooting spot of Vijay’s Mersal were leaked on social media. One of those was a photo of director Atlee that went viral.

Behind Atlee, in the image, there was a poster that had Vijay speaking on stage. The poster which also had an image of Motta Rajendran, gave rise to rumours that Vijay, who plays three roles in the film, might play the role of a politician.

But a clearer shot of the poster that’s used as a prop in the film has now surfaced, and it’s now confirmed that the character shown is Doctor Maaran, one of the three roles played by Vijay, and from the text in the background, it’s now apparent that the character is a doctor who returns from a foreign country after completing his studies there.

The other two roles he’ll essay in Mersal will be that of a village head and a magician.

With two posters released for the film, a source informs that another poster will be released soon.

The makers have confirmed that the new poster’s release date will be planned and announced well in advance.

Bankrolled by Thenandal Studios, the film, which has AR Rahman’s music, stars SJ Suryah, Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen, Vadivelu and Sathyaraj.
