Kasthuri, who returned to Tamil cinema with Simbu’s Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan, is doing a cameo in SA Chandrasekar’s Traffic Ramaswamy biopic. The actor met SAC at an event last month, and he had apparently asked her if she could do a dance number in the film. “I told him that I was looking to do something else. And then, he wrote some portions for me, which we shot in a day,” she tells us.
Kasthuri doesn’t want to be seen as just doing ‘item numbers’. “I am extremely disappointed with the double standards and misogyny in this society. Should I be a god to play a god? Just because I have a glamorous image on screen, why should I be judged?” she asks.
Is she a part of Thamizh Padam 2.0? “I certainly hope so, but I haven’t been approached by Amudhan yet. More than that, I am looking forward to seeing myself in Indian 2,” she smiles. It is to be noted that her character dies in the original film.
Kasthuri has also been signed to play a cop in an untitled project. “I play a good cop, but unfortunately, my character gets killed. Any film I die in becomes a blockbuster though. I am the Sean Bean of Tamil cinema,” she laughs.
