After the success of Aramm, Gopi Nainar’s directorial debut starring Nayanthara, we had reported that a sequel was on the cards. In fact, the film ended with a cliffhanger over whether Madhivadhani IAS would become a politician. It’s now confirmed that the actor-director-producer combo is coming together for the sequel.
Talking to CE, the film’s producer Kotapadi Ramesh of KJR Studios says, “The film’s shoot will commence from September, by which time Nayanthara should be done with Sarjun KM’s horror film. We’ll be shooting Aramm 2 in parallel with her film with director Arivazhagan. Apart from Gopi Nainar, we’ve confirmed only Peter Hein for the crew.”
Speaking about the sequel, director Gopi Nainar adds, “The work for the sequel is already underway. It’ll once again be about a social movement. There’s no connection between India and democracy though we call it a democratic nation. A democracy has to respect an individual’s rights and feelings. But our country has killed our people in the name of caste, religion and gender. Ambedkar dreamt of a very different country and Aramm 2 will be about this dream.”
When asked about his other projects with Siddharth and GV Prakash, he says, “There are many who are conspiring against me, and want to prevent me from making my second film. But those films are definitely happening. I’ll finish one of them before commencing Aramm 2.”
