8 Thottakkal-fame Aparna Balamurali, who is paired with GV Prakash in the upcoming Sarvam Thaala Mayam, will also be seen next in an emotional thriller titled Theethum Nandrum. The film is directed by debutant Rasu Ranjith.

About the idea of casting Aparna for the role, Rasu, who also plays one of the leads in the film, says, "My script demanded a girl who is in her early twenties, but is capable of delivering a mature performance. That was when I accidentally spotted Aparna in Maheshinte Prathikaaram. I was confident that she could do justice to the role and contacted her immediately." The actor-director goes on to add, "Theethum Nandrum carries a small message that who we help matters more than how we help, and all the things happening in our lives are determined directly by our deeds. It is a story of three small-time crooks who do petty crimes for survival. Their lives undergo a complete change when they cross paths with the local dons. The rest of the film narrates the after effects of their encounter."

Rasu Ranjith is also introducing Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan-fame Lijomol Jose to Tamil through this film. The young actor will be seen opposite Rasu, and incidentally, she also got the chance thanks to the same Malayalam film, Maheshinte Prathikaaram.

Despite the film dealing with serious human emotions, the filmmaker says he has made sure that the tone is kept light throughout. "Even though Tamil cinema has had several films with similar backdrops, Theethum Nandrum will definitely stand out for its unique treatment. Every creator has his own style of storytelling, and I sincerely believe that Tamil audience will like mine."

Rasu has also taken care of the editing of the film, apart from acting and direction. Talking about juggling between the three roles, he says, "I initially didn't think it would be this tough. But my experience of editing my short films came in handy and I am completely satisfied with the end result."

Also starring Sandeep Raj and Essaki in important roles, and with music by Sathya C, Theethum Nandrum is expected to hit the screens in August.
