Madhushalini spooked by 'Bhoot Returns'

Madhushalini finds herself in the curious position of waiting for a ghost to return. The actor, who has played a significant role in Ram Gopal Varma’s 'Department', is excited that the filmmaker has also included her in his next venture - 'Bhoot Returns'.

“The characters in both films are completely different. It’s all about breaking the image I create with Bhoot.. with that of Department. It rarely happens to an actor so early in their career. I  have been extremely lucky,” says a delighted Madhushalini. While she essays a person dreading ghosts in 'Bhoot Returns', 'Department' showcases her as a tough gangster.

She says she watched the original 'Bhoot' four times before shooting began. “I loved Urmila’s performance in 'Bhoot', which people found very scary. But I’m telling you nothing can be scarier than watching a horror film in 3D. I was scared while watching 'Bhoot Returns' recently, though I know every scene in the film. And I consider myself brave,” laughs Madhushalini.

While the actor says 'Bhoot Returns' doesn’t start pick up from when where 'Bhoot' ends, she contends that it is about an supernatural dimension in a woman’s life. Thankfully, all the horror and drama seems to have happened only in front of the camera and Madhushalini is happy to have worked with Manisha Koirala and J D Chakravarthy in the film. “Both of them are big stars, but we were just like a family while shooting. We really bonded well and had a great time while not shooting. We would keep joking and create our own ghost stories off the sets,” she says.

The film was wrapped up in a month, of which they shot at a spooky house for about 14 days. “But we didn’t find anything scary apart from what we did for the film,” smiles Madhushalini. The Tamil and Telugu versions are expected to hit screens a week after the Hindi version’s October 12 release.
