Damage from the major fire which broke on busy SM Street in Kozhikode

A major fire broke out on the busy SM Street in Kozhikode on Wednesday around 11 am.

The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. (EPS)

Ten units of fire and rescue units from different fire stations were present on the spot to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby shops. (EPS)

In April 2007, a similar blaze near Moideen Palli mosque, in Kozhikode had resulted into the death of eight persons and the destruction of nearly 50 shops. (EPS)
