HYDERABAD: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Hyderabad High Court seeking directions to the Telangana government to take immediate steps for repair of roads which are in a pathetic condition particularly in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The PIL is expected to come up for hearing on Tuesday.
BJP MLC and advocate N Ramachander Rao, in his petition, submitted that the recent rains across the state had resulted in further damage to the roads and had become a cause of concern for commuters. “Poor road conditions and numerous potholes led to a loss of human lives,” he noted.
The MLC said the poor conditions of roads are not a common thing only in the twin cities but also in other major cities across the state. He blamed the poor maintenance by municipal corporations behind the pathetic conditions. “Damage to the roads is not only due to heavy rains or digging work done by various government departments and private companies, but due to usage of low quality material for laying and repairing the roads,” he pointed out.
He sought the court to direct the authorities concerned to take up maintenance and repair of roads in all parts of the city and submit a status report to the court on the roads condition.
