NEW DELHI: Dimpy Ganguly, who was allegedly physically abused by Rahul Mahajan, her husband and son of the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, at the latter’s house at Worli early on Thursday, is now in a patch-up mood.

Amidst the efforts by the relatives and friends of both the parties to sort out the issue, Dimpy told reporters on Friday that she needed time to recover and wanted to be left alone for the moment.

Dimpy further said that she had a talk with Rahul on Friday and he sincerely regretted what had happened. Dimpy reportedly stayed with Poonam Mahajan, Rahul’s sister, after the alleged incident.

The Kolkata-based model married Rahul on a TV channel reality show ‘Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.’

This is the second time Rahul is facing domestic violence charges. Earlier, his first wife Shweta Singh had accused him of physically abusing her. They separated in 2008. In 2006, Rahul was arrested on charges of drug use.

‘Will take action if Dimpy complains’

Responding to the domestic violence charges against Rahul Mahajan, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Krishna Tirath said in New Delhi that she would ask the National Commission for Women (NCW) to look into the matter if Dimpy Ganguly lodged a formal complaint with the ministry.

“Domestic violence in no way is acceptable,” she said.
