PATNA: Eminent dancer Hari Uppal died at a hospital in Kolkata, family sources said here today.

Uppal breathed his last in the Kolkata hospital last evening.

Founder of the 'Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir', Uppal was also a member of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Delhi. He was conferred 'Padmashree' by the union government too.

Uppal was a resident of Magra village in Nalanda district.

Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar condoled his death and said Uppal had brought respectability to the art of classical dance in Bihar. He would always be remembered for his outstanding contribution.

"The void created by his death will always be there," he said.
