After unveiling plans of floating a political party a week ago, Arvind Kejriwal-led ‘India Against Corruption’ on Friday accused Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra of amassing wealth and properties much beyond his known sources of income, allegedly through loans doled out by realty major DLF Ltd.

At a press conference here, Kejriwal alleged that Vadra purchased properties worth Rs 300 crore in the last three years even though “the total share capital of the companies owned by Vadra and his mother (Maureen Vadra) was just Rs 50 lakh’’.

Kejriwal and his team members, including Prashant Bhushan, alleged that the properties were bought at much lesser than the market price. Questioning the source of the seed money that helped Vadra go on a real-estate buying spree that included 31 properties, Kejriwal alleged that Vadra was given “interest free” and “unsecured” loan by DLF Ltd.

“DLF gave Vadra an interest-free loan of Rs 65 crore. His five companies, which on paper are worth Rs 50 lakh, used this loan to buy DLF properties. From 2007 to 2010, Vadra bought property that was worth Rs 300 crore and is valued at `500 crore today. How could he afford this,” Kejriwal asked.

The team has alleged that the Congress Government in Haryana, in a quid-pro-quo deal, awarded land reserved for public interest projects to the DLF instantly.

Kejriwal claimed that Vadra, married to Priyanka Gandhi, also purchased DLF properties at throwaway prices.

The team released documents stating that Vadra was allotted seven flats in Magnolia apartments in DLF Gurgaon at a total of Rs 5.2 crore, when the market price of each flat was well over Rs 5 crore.
