Heaping praise on first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, senior BJP leader L K Advani said it was because of them that the democratic structure of the country was so strong.
“The democratic structure of this country has been strengthened because of people like Nehru, Gandhi, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. These were the people who played an important role in the birth of our Constitution,” Advani, who was addressing a 10 thousand-strong election rally in Thandla, Jhabua, 375 km from here, said.
During his speech, Advani refrained from either praising the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi or criticising the Congress, which the other leaders of his party have repeatedly done.
Speaking at another election rally in Khargone, Advani took a separate path from what had been taken by his party leaders in this election and said criticising the opposition parties would not help the BJP.
