Goa: NIO's Research Ship Dedicated to the Country

PANAJI: Research vessel 'Sindhu Sadhana', acquired recently by the Goa-based National Institute of Oceanography, was dedicated to the country today at Vasco.

Union minister of state for science and technology Dr Jitendra Singh dedicated the ship to the country at a ceremony in the presence of Dr P S Ahuja, Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and Dr S W A Naqvi, Director, NIO.

The ship, which is 80 meters long and 17.6 metres wide, can accommodate 57 personnel, an official statement here said.

The ship has ten laboratories with state-of-the art equipment for high precision recording of data and sample acquisition
