Former Meghalaya minister Manirul Islam Sarkar dies

The former Meghalaya minister is a two-time MLA from the Phulbari constituency and died of a heart attack in Guwahati.

TURA: Former Meghalaya minister and two time MLA from the Phulbari constituency, Manirul Islam Sarkar died today after a heart attack in Guwahati, family sources said.

The 53-year-old Sarkar is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters.

"He was taking rest in Meghalaya House in Guwahati when he had a heart attack this afternoon. He was rushed to Hospital where they pronounced him dead," said Sarkar's younger brother, Rahibul Islam Sarkar.
