Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) on Saturday rejected any possibility of an out-of-court settlement of the Babri Masjid dispute. At its monthly press meet in Delhi, JIH president Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari said that the community is committed to resolve the issue, but an out-of-court settlement is not acceptable
to Muslims.

Though JIH did not name any outfit or individual, it took a dig at people who have been advocating an out-of-court settlement for the dispute.

JIH’s secretary general Muhammad Salim Engineer said, “There have been attempts by people and organisations to intervene in the Babri Masjid dispute by becoming self-appointed mediators. All India Muslim Personal Law Board and JIH await the court judgment and are committed to abide by it.”
