HYDERABAD: The Union ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation accidentally trolled itself on Tuesday night after they retweeted a tweet from a parody account of its minister M Venkaiah Naidu. The department’s official Twitter handle took down the tweet on Wednesday.

The official handle of ministry of housing "@MoHUPA" on Tuesday night retweeted: "Meeting Beneficiaries under MoHUPA - Ministry of Helpful Ultra Powerful Acronyms" from a parody account of the minister, named @VenkronymNaidu.

On May 2, Naidu had shared a tweet with the same photographs and caption- minus the acronym for MoHUPA. The parody account seems to have used the caption and photo from the minister's official account.

Coming to other tweets shared by the parody handle, one of them terms VIKAS as "Venkaiah Innovates Killing Acronyms Solely". Another one expanding VENKAIAH says: "Very Energetic National King Advocating Inspirational Acronyms Heavily".

Compared to the official handle @MVenkaiahNaidu which has as many as 500,000 followers, the parody handle has only 840 followers.
