A month after the arrest of Priyanka Taneja aka Honeypreet Insan, sources stated that Insan was getting a VIP treatment in the Ambala Central Jail.
Honeypreet topped the list of 43 'wanted' people by the Haryana Police in connection with the Panchkula violence after the arrest of the Dera Sacha Sauda chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
According to the sources quoted in a report by India Today, the adopted daughter of Ram Rahim Singh didn't like the prison food and she was secretly getting home cooked food.
The Haryana jail minister, Krishan Lal Panwar, however, denied the VIP treatment allegation. "All convicts were being served rations as per the jail manual. The jail staff was not favouring any inmate. The allegations that homecooked food was being served inside jail were baseless," Panwar claimed.
The sources also said that a car carrying family members of Honeypreet was allowed to enter the jail premises. The car reportedly remained there for close to three hours.
Panwar said, "One of the women travelling in the car was not well so the vehicle was allowed to enter the jail premises."
Honeypreet was taken into custody last month after she was found guilty of funding the Panchkula violence in which many people were killed.
