Prisoner escapes from Excise department lock-up in Nawada

The man managed to a give a slip to the policemen when he had gone to attend nature's call this morning.

NAWADA: A prisoner today escaped from the Excise department's lock-up here, an Excise official said.

Excise department Inspector Vinod Kumar Khalifa said the man identified as Anand Kumar Singh was a resident of Amawa village under Rajauli police station of the district.

Excise officials arrested nine persons, including Anand Kumar Singh, in an inebriated condition from the Rajauli check post area last evening, he said.

The man managed to a give a slip to the policemen when he had gone to attend nature's call this morning, he said adding that an FIR was lodged in this connection with the town police.

Both Excise department and police are conducting raids at various locations to arrest the man.
