NEW DELHI: A court on Thursday sent Aam Aadmi Party MLAs Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal to 14-day judicial custody for assaulting Delhi chief secretary Anshu Prakash. The court also postponed their bail hearing to Friday.
The Delhi Police told the court that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s advisor VK Jain accepted that Prakash was beaten up during a meeting at the CM’s residence on the night of February 19.
On Tuesday, Prakash had alleged that he was beaten up by two AAP legislators in the presence of Kejriwal at the chief minister’s residence where he was called for an emergency meeting.
Meanwhile, AAP minister Rajendra Pal Gautam was detained when he was moving towards Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s residence to protest the “casteist remarks” made by Prakash.
Elsewhere, BJP workers protested at more than a dozen places on Thursday over the ongoing controversy. The BJP workers protested outside the house of deputy CM Manish Sisodia and in the constituencies of other AAP MLAs.
