BHOPAL: A foot-in-mouth statement by senior Congress legislator Govind Singh on the 'Me Too' campaign which took the nation by storm and compelled Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar's resignation has triggered a controversy.

While interacting with a news channel, Dr Singh said that women often make such complaints for money.

"Many similar instances come up in villages. False cases are registered on several occasions by vested interests. Subsequently, the victims take money and back out," he allegedly said.
