NEW DELHI: Welcoming the bail given to P Chidambaram, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that incarceration of the former Union minister  was “vengeful and vindictive”.

He also expressed confidence that Chidambaram will be able to prove his innocence in a fair trial.
On Wednesday, Chidambaram was granted bail in the INX media case after spending 106 days in Tihar jail.

The Congress asserted that “truth finally prevails” with senior leader Shashi Tharoor saying that “justice delayed is justice denied, and bail should have been granted earlier.”

Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the party will welcome Chidambaram as he is an asset to the party. “On the orders of this government, walls were scaled of the home of Chidamabaram, a former home minister and finance minister, to arrest him as if a relative of Osama bin Laden was staying there,”  hesaid.

“At last after 106 days. But justice delayed is justice denied. This should have been granted much earlier. Nothing is different from three months ago,” his son and Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said.
