A day after taking oath as Prime Minister, leading the NDA coalition government for a third consecutive time, Narendra Modi assumed charge in his office on Monday at the PMO in South Block.

After taking charge, PM Modi signed his first file authorising release of the 17th instalment of PM Kisan Nidhi.

"Ours is a Government fully committed to Kisan Kalyan. It is therefore fitting that the first file signed on taking charge is related to farmer welfare," he said.

He further said that his government wants to keep working even more for the farmers and the agriculture sector in the times to come.

PM Kisan Nidhi scheme will benefits 9.3 crore farmers and distribute around Rs 20,000 crores.

Upon reaching office, PMO staff and officials welcomed him by clapping. The PM was accompanied by the PMO, NSA Ajit Doval and his principal secretary.

The decision signifies the government's commitment to farmers' welfare following the ruling National Democratic Alliance's poll win, albeit with some setback, especially in parts of rural India.

Addressing staffers of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) after he began this third term, Modi said his only goal is "nation first" and his only motivation "Viksit Bharat", adding that this was his expectation from them as well.

"My every moment is for the country," Modi said, asserting that he has promised to work round the clock to achieve the goal of India becoming a developed country by 2047.
