In an industry that obsesses over larger-than-life heroes on screen, one director has put in quite a bit of an investment to fetch an actor for the villain’s role.
Director Chandrashekar Bandiyappa has succeeded in getting Hollywood actor Danny Sapani to join his next project. The British actor is being paid `1 crore for the movie.
The actor, who has been part of feature films, short movies and teleseries in the past made his first appearance in the Indian film industry with Tamil film Singham II.
Danny continues his streak in India with his Sandalwood debut in Tarakasura, a film directed by Bandiyappa. He will face off with newcomer Vaibhav, who is marking his tinsel town debut. Vaibhav is the son of theatre owner and Chamber secretary, Narasimhalu.
Danny will be joining the sets on June 5, which is when the film goes on floors. The director tells City Express about the reason behind bringing down Danny for the film. “We needed an artiste who can look like a demon and he fit the bill. Moreover, we wanted to bring in a fresh face in the villain’s role. Somebody who will walk the talk. He is worth every penny,” says the director, who believes in correct casting.
Chandrashekar’s Tarakasura is a social drama and that throws light on folk culture that is on the verge of extinction.
The film is set to roll in the coming week even as the search for a heroine is on. “We will start with the hero and villain portions, the shoot for starts in 25 days,”he says.
Meanwhile, Chandrashekar is waiting for his pending film with Shivanna, for which he needs to get approval from the President of India. “The film is about Kambala (the annual buffalo race). It is a banned thing now. The state government has sent a request for reconsideration and it is likely to be sanctioned by the next President, who will take the chair in July. I need to wait until then,” he says.
Meanwhile, he aims to complete the project Tarakasura with Vaibhav. “Vaibhav will be featured in three shades in the film,” he says.
