UDUPI:At a time when everything is going digital, Udupi’s Sri Palimaru Mutt, one of the eight (Ashta) mutts of this temple town, is embracing technology with open arms. Sri Palimaru Mutt now has an electronic data capture swiping machine to accept donation from devotees. This swiping machine was donated by a devotee to the mutt to encourage cashless transaction.

Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Sri Palimaru Mutt says when money transactions are taking place in the digital front post-demonetisation, he thought it would be ideal to switch over to electronic transaction. “Devotees from various places can make generous contributions through the swiping machine,” he said. Minister for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Affairs Pramod Madhwaraj was the first donor to contribute D10,000 to the presiding deity of Sri Palimaru Mutt through the swiping machine.
