MYSURU:Bowled over by the gesture of a 21-year-old girl who spent her maiden earnings to build two toilets in a village school for girls, Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal made an impromptu visit to the school to appreciate her work on Friday.
Megha Kochar, a resident of Ittigegudu had built two toilets at AC Convent School located at Makanahundi village about 15 km from the city with her first earnings of `20,600 as a certified mutual fund advisor in October last.

Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call, she chose the private school after learning that girls in the village are dropping out from the school after class VI due to lack of proper toilet facilities. The school has a strength of 90 out of which 50 are girls.
Goyal, who was in the city to take part in a slew of events, was introduced to the girl. Impressed, he heaped praises on her and also felicitated her with a shawl and basket of fruits. At a meeting with intellectuals of city, he asked the industrialists and entrepreneurs to take inspiration from Megha.

The happiness of Megha and her parents had no bounds when she got a call later in the day from a BJP functionary stating that the Minister wants to see her work. Despite his tight schedule, the Minister took time on his way to the airport to drive into the dusty village to see the toilets constructed. “The Union Minister was in school for about 2 minutes and was very much impressed by my work,” Megha said.
Her father Kishor who is into automobile business, said his family was initially shocked when Megha told them she wants to build toilets for girls with her first earnings.
