MANGALURU: Even  as several incidents of stabbings and attacks on highways and towns across Dakshina Kannada district are being dreaded, it becoming clear that it is the handiwork of divisive forces engineering communal clashes in Dakshina Kannada, with Bantwal as the epicentre.

“I have seen that stabbings around Ullal and Bantwal have a modus operandi. The miscreants choose their victims alternatively from two major communities. This works as a trigger for communal clashes and damage various confidence-building activities taken up by political parties. With such incidents, the designs of divisive forces have been exposed. In the last four incidents in last two months, youths of two communities have been targeted alternatively,” a senior former police investigator, on conditions of anonymity, told Express.
