BENGALURU: The state government on Tuesday recommended the names of former Ramanagara MLA C M Lingappa, former Mayor of Bengaluru P R Ramesh and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee member Mohan Kondaji for the three nominated seats in the state Legislative Council.

The seats which have remained vacant for the past several months had seen intense lobbying from more than half a dozen aspirants. The seats fell vacant following the completion of the term of BJP leader Lehar Singh, Kannada actor Jaggesh and social worker P V Krishna Bhat. They were nominated during the previous BJP regime. The party high command cleared the names of the three candidates on Tuesday and soon after the government recommended the names to Governor Vajubhai Vala for his assent, sources in the Chief Minister’s office said.
