Air India to connect Hubballi with Mumbai

HUBBALLI: A bigger aircraft is all set to touch down the upgraded Hubballi airport with the starting of a new flight operation by Air India Limited from Bengaluru to Mumbai soon. It will also end the long wait for air connectivity to Mumbai as the new flight service is expected to start from December 15.

Finally, efforts made from all sides are fructified and the Air India has decided to fly an Airbus 319 flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai via Hubballi, which has a seating capacity of 120. It will be additional to the existing Bengaluru-Hubballi- Bengaluru ATR-72 flight.

Sources close to the development told Express that the schedule of the new Airbus 319 aircraft is almost fixed on December 15. The flight will take off from Bengaluru and stop for a while at Hubballi before flying to Mumbai. Initially, the flight service will be for three days in a week and later, it will be made daily.

The demand for air service to the commercial capital of the nation was a long-pending one as people of Hubballi are closely associated with Mumbai.
