Validity of certificates extended

The validity of caste, income and nativity certificates for educational purposes in the state has been extended.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:The validity of caste, income and nativity certificates for educational purposes in the state has been extended.

Caste certificate will be valid for three years instead of six months. While the income certificate will be valid for one year, nativity certificate will have unlimited validity.
Till the end of the validity period, photocopies of the certificates can be produced for educational purposes.
The Education Department will amend rules to allow production of original certificate only during the time of admission.

Such certificates will be marked ‘For Educational Purposes’ on top and cannot be used for other purposes.
The validity of caste, income and nativity certificates for other purposes remains unchanged.
A decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting attended by Revenue Minister E Chandrashekaran, SC/ST Welfare Minister A K Balan and officials of the Departments of Revenue, SC/ST Welfare and Education.
