NASSCOM Animation and Gaming Conference, held at the HICC saw some major players in the multimedia industry gear up to showcase the best of talent, resources and expertise to enthusiastic techies, students and entrepreneurs from around the world. Among the numerous stalls on display at the venue, Picasso Animation, a city-based animation institute created quite a buzz with its live demonstration of motion capture technology.

As curious visitors looked on, a specialist wearing body sensors struck poses, while a real -time representation took place on the screens.

At a panel discussion, ABRP Reddy, CEO of Picasso Digital Media spoke at length about India becoming a favourite destination for global animation companies. He said, “European and North American companies are presently looking at India to reduce costs and increase productivity.” Incidentally, Picasso Animation is in the process of being one of the key players in the proposed Board of Animation & Gaming Standards.

The board will have governing body from Animation & Gaming companies and set up standards in syllabus, infrastructure and delivery standards in animation education, which will be adopted by animation education companies. Participating in the launch, Reddy said “this initiative will help the students to get quality animation education and studios to get the right manpower.” The guys at Picasso displayed some show of skill with the short animation presentations by students, using some of the latest and best technologies and software. By the looks of it, there seems to be a great deal of artistic talent Twin Cities, and the people to utilise it.
