Micromax MAd A94 (Rs 6,099/4.5-inch)

Part of the MAd line-up aimed at the younger generations, the A94 is a super affordable smartphone that comes with a 4.5-inch IPS capacitive display with an FWVGA resolution that is good for videos, photos and games. Running the ancient Android Jelly Bean 4.2, the MAd A94 runs on a 1.2GHz quad-core processor helped by 512MB of RAM. Apart from a 5MP shooter both on the back and on the front, the dual-SIM phone has 4GB of internal storage expandable up to 32GB.

Karbonn Smart A50s (Rs 2,699/3.5-inch)

The Smart A50s costs a rupee less than `2,700 and comes with a 3.5-inch TFT LCD capacitive screen. Running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, the A50s runs on a 1.2GHz Mediatek Dual Core processor helped by 256MB of RAM. While it also is a dual-SIM phone, it sports a meagre 2MP primary camera on the back with an LED flash, and a digital camera on the front. While the 2GB of internal storage can be expanded up to 32GB, Karbonn is promising that its 1100mAh battery will give you up to 90 hours of standby time.

Lava Iris X1 (Rs  7,849/4.5-inch)

The first thing that strikes you about the Lava Iris X1 is its build quality and its surprisingly good design even if it is reminiscent of a certain old fruit-flavoured phone. With a 4.5-inch IPS capacitive touch screen with full laminator, the X1 is available in both black and white, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad core processor helped by 1GB of RAM. On the back you will find an 8MP camera with a dual LED flash, and on the front a 2MP camera. Like all India-made phones, it also holds two SIM cards and comes with 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB. Running Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, the X1 is a good phone for its price.
