Tech Guru │ Sanjay Dastoor

We are all walking around with very powerful super computers in our pockets but it does not feel like we are living in the future. There is a simple reason for that. It is the absence of all the technology that we have been promised in our childhoods: jet packs, flying cars and hoverboards. Since the movie Back To the Future Part II showed us a hoverboard, we have been dreaming about a flying skateboard that we can just jump on to. While companies like Lexus have recently been showing off some very expensive prototypes, one man is laying the path for affordable hoverboards by making very affordable, super cool electric skateboards. He is Sanjay Dastoor, the CEO and co-founder of Boosted, the maker of ultra light electric vehicles.

Dastoor has a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Master of Science in the same discipline from the Stanford University where he also did research of bio-inspired robots. As a student he gained experience as a summer undergraduate researcher at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of NASA and as a research assistant at SRI International. Now as the CEO of Boosted, he oversees the development of beautiful skateboards with built in motors that you can control with a Bluetooth-embedded remote and which can travel at up to speeds of 30 kmph even while going up steep hills. With quick charging batteries and regenerative brakes, Boosted’s skateboards are redefining urban commutes.
