Google has now released the 'YouTube Go' application, the lightweight app which lets you save videos to watch offline. The tech major has now taken the beta label off the app.

The app is most suitable for regions which have low-bandwidth and also enables users to transfer the videos to friends over Bluetooth.

With only 9.4 MB in size, YouTube Go promises that it is made to work with less storage and slow speeds as well as work on old Android versions back to Jellybean (Android 4.1).

In Play Store, the app is shown last updated on November 28, 2017.

You can go ahead and download the app from Google's  Play store.

Currently, Youtube Go has been made available to only India and Indonesia but chances are that Google will be announcing it for more regions.

The facility to download and save videos from YouTube was already there but you would need a YouTube Red subscription.

Explainer: Beta refers to a product or an application in the early stages of development. Pre-Alpha and Alpha versions are the ones which are released prior to Beta for testing, market research, data collection, analysis etc.

The two stages are called 'testing phases'. The release phase, as in the Youtube Go's case means it is the last step in the development cycle, a much more de-bugged version from the beta release.
