Chinese electronics maker Xiaomi on Thursday launched its smart home and lifestyle brand Mijia in India, starting with two smart air purifiers as it looks to expand its connected home product portfolio in the country.
The company launched the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 at ₹19,999 and the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact at ₹7,999. It also reintroduced the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite at ₹12,999.
All three products will be available from September 2 through mi.com, Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, Xiaomi Retail and Xiaomi Exclusive stores.
"With the launch of Mijia by Xiaomi in India, we are expanding our smart home portfolio with products designed to address everyday consumer needs. The first Mijia products in India will be in Air Purifier category. Since entering India in 2014, Xiaomi has expanded beyond smartphones into smart TVs, tablets and AIoT products. The company said the launch of Mijia marks the next phase of its growth in India, with a greater focus on connected home solutions.
The Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 is targeted at larger rooms and can cover up to 940 sq ft based on two air changes per hour. It has a Particle CADR of 443 cubic metres per hour and a Formaldehyde CADR of 218 cubic metres per hour.
The purifier uses a five-stage PentaClean purification system that combines filtration, activated carbon, UV-C light and negative ion technology. Xiaomi claims the device can circulate clean air through a 108 sq ft room in about 3.5 minutes, based on its test conditions.
