■ Sawani Makes a spiritual Cut: Noted Hindustani singer Sawani Shende-Sathaye’s travel to Switzerland made a memorable musical journey. Seven years ago, artistes Regula Curti and Dechen Shak Dagsay sang Christian prayers and Buddhist chants. Their album “Beyond” became a hit. Now, Shende has cut an album with pop and rock diva Tina Turner and is part of the group that also features the legendary artiste. Shende sings Hindu prayers in the cross-culture album “BEYOND Love Within”, the group’s first to get a worldwide release. Musical instruments like the sitar, Tibetan Bells, and the Swiss alphorn have been used in the album.
