Devdutt Pattanaik Myth Master

Ravi Shankar

Much before the thriving market for mythological fiction came into being, a Mumbai-based trained physician was writing columns, articles and blog posts in his leisure about the relevance of sacred stories, symbols and rituals for the modern times.

His interest in mythology soon became a full-time passion and today Devdutt Pattanaik is the most famous mythologist, author and leadership consultant in the country. He has written over 30 books, including bestsellers such as Myth = Mithya (a handbook of Hindu Mythology, 2006), The Pregnant King (2008), Jaya: An Illustrated Retelling Of The Mahabharata (2010), and 7 Secrets of Shiva (2011). Several of his books have been translated into Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati and Marathi.
