Sporting an enraged expression and clad in a blood-red shirt, Neeraj Madhav epitomised a rebellious campus politician in the first-look of Oru Mexican Aparatha’.
The actor, who has a significant role, is happy about the response. “It was not a pre-planned move, but, I am elated about the way the clip went viral,” says Neeraj.
Neeraj plays a student, Subhash, who hails from a politically-charged region of Kerala. “The character has a clear political background. He then moves to the big city college where he meets the person played by Tovino [Thomas]. Subhash influences him and the movie traces his transition,” says Neeraj.
The actor says he had to change his over-all look. “I had long hair and was sporting a man bun when the role was offered to me. So, I had to cut my hair and go for the ordinary look,” he says.
Neeraj had an enjoyable experience working with the crew. “Director Tom has a special way of capturing the scenes. He never tells us the entire sequence, but only our dialogues. We did not know how the other characters would respond. That way Tom is able to capture our genuine reactions,” says Neeraj.
But, didn’t the teaser come as a surprise to those expecting an adrenaline-pumping action movie? “There is a lot of romance. We didn’t want it to get submerged in the ‘katta kalipp’ flavour the song gave. But, I am sure that the movie will not disappoint anyone,” says Neeraj.
